Cassandra Allen is an international award-winning children’s book illustrator living and working in France.
Born in Australia, Allen studied fine art, photography and multimedia in Melbourne. In 2002 Allen established herself as a successful independant illustrator and graphic designer until 2006. Allen then focused her practice exclusively on illustration and moved to Europe, where she began working on childrens’ books.
In 2010 her book “There Was An Old Sailor” was selected as a finalist for Speech Pathology Australia’s Book of the Year and also as a finalist for the Korean Picture Book Awards. In 2011 “There Was An Old Sailor” was announced winner of the Crystal Kite Award from the Society of Childrens’ Book Writers and Illustrators.
